Dana Field is the chair of the (non-scientific) seminars. The speakers he
currently has lined up for us are: Dennis Cathcart, Bruce Holst, Reginald
De Roose, Enrique Graf, Betty Patterson, John Mareing, Jack Reilly, Gene
Schmidt, Jerry Raack, David Christiano, Penrith Goff and Mike Dillon
(Curator & Head of Phanerogams, Department of Botany, Field Museum of
Natural History)
Dennis Cathcart, owner of Tropiflora will give a seminar on terrestrial
bromeliads. Bruce Holst, former editor of the scientific research journal
Selbyana of Selby Gardens (and current BSI Journal editor) will do a program
on Venezuelan Bromeliads. Reginald De Roose who operates the De Roose Nursery
in Belgium will give a seminar on the commercial perspective of growing
bromeliads. Enrique Graf will speak on the Venezuelan Bromeliads. John
Mareing of St. Louis will provide us with a seminar on the history of
Pineapples. Betty Patterson will share with us in the Bromeliads of Ecuador.
Jack Reilly, Gene Schmidt, Jerry Raack, David Christiano, and Penrith Goff
will tell us how they grow bromeliads in the north.
