INDEX OF INFORMATION

GENERAL INFO

The BSI and the San Diego Bromeliad Society, hope to see you in San Diego for the Seventeeth WBC.

The U.S. Weather Bureau describes San Diego's weather as the most nearly perfect in America. The average year-round high temperature is 70ºF (21ºC). The yearly rainfall is light, averaging only 9.45 inches (24 cm), with most of it falling during the months of December, January and February. It should be perfect weather, sunny and warm, for the Conference.

We are still working on finalizing tours, seminars, scientific speakers, and commercial vendors. Information will be added to this page as it becomes available.

TILLANDSIA SYMPOSIUM

Review and discussion of a Bromeliad genus in transition.

To be held: June 7, 2006
World Bromeliad Conference, San Diego, California

There is more interest in the study and classification of Tillandsia at this time than at any other time in history. Scientists on several continents are working on the ecology and taxonomy of this challenging group. At the same time, a large following of enthusiastic commercial and hobby growers devote their interest and energy to growing these interesting plants as horticultural specimens.

DONATIONS

The San Diego Bromeliad Society will be the Affiliate host for the 2006 BSI WBC in June 2006. They are working with the BSI to provide events for a memorable conference, but we need your financial help. The BSI is soliciting donations to defray the cost of many of the activities, of which we will all benefit. Donations may be applied to specific events or a purpose or may be directed to the general fund, to be used as needed. All contributions will be recognized in the Conference Program; one of the reasons you need to act soon. Please indicate the name by which you wish the donation to be recognized, i.e. "In memory of", "anonymous", or "Bromeliad Society of...", etc. All contributions, regardless of size are appreciated.
