Genus: Gregbrownia

Gregbrownia is a genus of the subfamily Tillandsioideae. It is named for American botanist Gregory K. Brown, who was part of the collaborative multi-locus DNA sequence phylogeny and morphology study and taxonomic revision of the Tillandsioideae subfamily. (Barfuss et al. 2016. Phytotaxa 279(1): 001-097). Formerly part of the genus Mezobromelia, species are endemic to forested areas in Ecuador and Peru, where they grow both as epiphytes and terrestrials.
