Genus: Lymania

Lymania is a genus of the subfamily Bromelioideae. It was named for American botanist, Lyman Bradford Smith (1904-1997). The genus was established in 1984 to unite furrowed or winged species from Aechmea subgenera; Lamprococcus, Araeococcus and Ronnbergia. They are endemic to the Bahian coast of the Brazilian Atlantic Forest.
