Genus: Sequencia

Sequencia is a monotypic genus of the subfamily Pitcairnioideae. The sole species is Sequencia serrata, endemic to the Vaupes region of Colombia where it grows saxicolously in savanna lands. Formerly classified as Brocchinia serrata, the genus was separated in 2007 based on DNA sequence details (hence its name) and restriction site characteristics (Givnish et. al. 2007).
