Genus: WerauhiaWerauhia is a genus of the subfamily Tillandsioideae. The genus is named for Werner Rauh, a German botanist (1913-2000). Based on molecular evidence and flower morphology, a number of species previously classified within other bromeliad genera, especially Vriesia and Tillandsia, have been placed in Werauhia. They are mainly epiphytes ranging from Central American and Caribbean countries down to Brazil and Argentina.Number of accepted species in this genus is 100 (source: species counts in the Encyclopaedia of Bromeliads). |
