Mentioned by Makoy in Revue Horticole in 1888. Padilla (1973) referred to it as a hybrid but gave no source for this information. Plant investigated in New Zealand in 2001 where it linked closely with Wittrockis gigantea but showed no link to its alleged other parent Edmundoa lindenii. | |||
